Sustainability is the main focus for DGTL Revolution. It focuses itself on projects such as the reduction of carbon dioxide, energy use, waste, food, water and transport use. We want to focus ourselfs on these topics to create a more sustainable festival, with the long-term end goal being a C02 neutrality festival.

The sustainability focus for this Barcelona edition is the recycling of urine phosphate to produce plant fertilizer. This has never been done in Spain on such a scale; the plan is to recycle 3000 liters of pee per day.
Another of the projects included in the program is the recycling of plastic with Taller Esférica, an organisation that approaches the subject from an industrial designer perspective. Festival goers will be able to manufacture their own DGTL keychains from recycled plastic at their workshop during the festival.
Another project comprised in the Revolution program is Food Makers, an association that works behind the cooking stoves with refugees, immigrants and other groups at risk of social exclusion to offer them something as basic as an occupation, thus fostering a realistic way to integrate them into the host society.
This year's projects are urine recycling, the awareness pool, a meatless food court that'll only sell vegetarian food, the ‘Food Makers’ project which involves refugees, and bike rentals.
DGTL has partnered up with Baja Bikes: we offer bike combination tickets to persuade our visitors to come by bike, instead of by taxi, bus or metro. We like riding because it's environmentally friendly and sticks to our zero waste philosophy. Besides the fact taxis are more expensive and metro doesn't work all night on Friday.
