DGTL Barcelona takes inspiration from a modular switchboard to name its 4 stages: Modular, Generator, Frequency and AMP; and announces artists for each one in a new and extended venue distribution for August 11 and 12.
The sustainability focus for this Barcelona edition is the recycling of urine phosphate to produce plant fertilizer. This has never been done in Spain on such a scale; the plan is to recycle 3000 liters of pee per day.
Another of the projects included in the program is the recycling of plastic with Taller Esférica, an organisation that approaches the subject from an industrial designer perspective. Festival goers will be able to manufacture their own DGTL keychains from recycled plastic at their workshop during the festival.
Visual studios Palnoise and Volumetricks will create a 3D geometric LED installation with a 20-sided body.
Another project comprised in the Revolution program is Food Makers, an association that works behind the cooking stoves with refugees, immigrants and other groups at risk of social exclusion to offer them something as basic as an occupation, thus fostering a realistic way to integrate them into the host society.
